Pochampally Ikat, indigo & white

In double ikat both warp and weft are tied and dyed before a single thread meets the loom, so the pattern has to be summoned into alignment as the weaving goes. The soft edge where indigo meets white is the tell — a printed cloth would give you a hard line.
